Your wedding day is one of the most significant days of your life, and capturing those moments beautifully is my top priority. To make sure your photos are everything you’ve dreamed of, a little bit of preparation can go a long way. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get ready for your wedding day photos.

1. Fill Out My Wedding Day Survey

Before your big day, I’ll send you a wedding day survey. This survey helps me understand your vision, timeline, and specific moments that matter most to you. It covers everything from the time you’ll be getting ready to special details you want highlighted. Be as detailed as possible—this will help me craft a photography plan tailored to your unique day.

2. Let’s Chat!

After you fill out the survey, we’ll schedule a call to go over the details. This is your chance to ask any questions, express any concerns, and share your ideas. We’ll discuss the timeline, family portraits, and any must-have shots (feel free to send me screenshots in advance too). I want to make sure I’m fully aligned with your expectations and vision.

3. Gather Items for Flat Lay Photos

Flat lay photos are a beautiful way to capture all the special details of your wedding day. Here’s a list of items you may want to gather:

  • Invitation suite (including RSVP cards and envelopes)
  • Wedding rings (both engagement and wedding bands)
  • Jewelry (necklaces, earrings, bracelets, cufflinks)
  • Shoes
  • Perfume/cologne bottle
  • Vows or handwritten notes
  • Wedding garter
  • Ribbon or fabric swatches that match your wedding colors
  • Any other special mementos you’d like included

Place these items together in a box or bag and designate someone to hand them to me when I arrive. This way, I can capture these details quickly at the start of my service.

4. Clean Your Rings

Your rings are a major part of your wedding day photos, and a quick clean can make all the difference. Visit your jeweler a few days before the wedding or use a gentle jewelry cleaner to make them shine.

5. FEEL FREE TO BE EXTRA

While definitely not necessary, you should do whatever you want to make you feel as confident as possible. In some cases this may mean:

  • Doing a round of whitening strips for your teeth in the 10 days leading up to your wedding
  • Buying and using a GOOD self-tanner
  • Do a trial run with your MUA, and don't be shy about telling them exactly what your want
  • Practice your first dance, kiss, and dips with your partner (and be sure to not cover your face with your bouquet)

6. Final Checklist Before the Big Day

  • Communicate any last-minute changes to me
  • Make sure all items for flat lay photos are gathered
  • Confirm the timeline and locations
  • Double-check that your rings are clean and ready

7. Be in the Moment and Have Fun

One of the best things you can do for stunning wedding photos is to simply be present and enjoy the day. Laugh, dance, and celebrate—you’ve done all the hard work, and now it’s time to soak it all in. Genuine emotions and real moments are what make your photos shine. Let yourself be in the moment, and I’ll be there to capture it.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure that your wedding day photos are stunning and stress-free. I can’t wait to capture the magic of your day!
